Florence - Autumn

Autumn

If spring was the present, winter the past, summer the future,

Why was the Sun warmer next time?

Would it be brighter next time?

Autumn told me:

Do not be greedy,

Do not get burned,

for winter’s lack,

is a greater concern.

If spring was the present, winter the past, summer the future,

Why do things change so rapidly now?

Would the tranquility of yesterday remain?

Autumn told me:

Do not short change yourself,

Do not let your heart grow cold,

for summer’s hedonism,

will seep into you two-fold.

If spring was the present, winter the past, summer the future,

Where was Autumn all along?

It was its own entity.

Where red is the preservation of summer’s happiness,

And to winter, red is the coolest start.
